Descending ever-further…
Hello!

It’s been a while! I’ve been neglecting to post these updates, but our campaign is still moving along. That said, this and the next couple updates will be a little fuzzy, judging by how long ago it was. I think this one is from… June 23rd?
Our heroes descended into the abandoned mines of the old dwarven settlement.

More, including a breakdown of the map parts, and a summary of the heroes’ exploits in the mines, below the cut.
Next time, the party ventures beyond the giant door, into the deepest part of the abandoned mine.
Into the mines
The firebugs have gotten all riled up!
The miners recently found an old dwarven settlement below Earthbridge, but were driven off by the Firebugs.

the miners had tunneled right into someone’s house. The place seemed to be completely abandoned, save for the firebugs.
More below the cut.
Pathfinder: Goin’ Places
Whoops, almost forgot about this week’s pathfinder updates :0
The second adventure, as it were, starts in a town called Earthbridge.

I wanted to change the name last minute, but I had already written it on the picture. Oops! I traced this off of a photo of Lake Melissani. I was unable to find the rights to the photo … I’ll work on that in the future. Here’s the reverse image search link

They met the mayor and claimed their bounty for the bandits from before. Mayor Zephrus also had some work for them– monster clearing duty in the mines. Something had riled up the firebugs, and they posed a threat to the miners. She introduced them to the forewoman of the mines, Mildred, who would accompany them.
First Adventure Outtakes!
The first adventure, such as it was, took three sessions. Longer than intended! I prepared a few different things that I ended up cutting for time or common sense reasons, or just because the players went in a different direction.

First off, the temple and the cleric’s attached home, which the players might have investigated if necessary. Tossed as a bit messy for the first things to make the players do

A collapsed cliff face I would have made the players climb with an easy skill check, to explain how those work before getting into combat. Skipped because the players had already done some skill checks in town asking people questions, and I wanted to move things along.

A uh. Candyland-esque board game map that I would have used had the players chased down the mage when she escaped by boat. Combat actions could be taken when you were near the other boats, and there would have been some extra control around the boat besides just going forward by a die roll’s # spaces. Cut because they didn’t chase the mage, but in hindsight… probably for the best.
Braquen Summer Home

After sizing up the tomb, the squad catches wind of some sort of treasure in the Braquen family’s summer home, located near the tomb. They Investigate. Main home on top, upstairs on lower left, cellar on lower right.

Upstairs, they fought some books!

Downstairs, they caught up with that bandit mage lady! I don’t… think I ever gave her a name. Oops.
Braquen Family Tomb

I said I’d share the maps from my first adventure here, then promptly forgot. First, the entrance to the tomb, and the bandit encampment.

Then, the main tomb, where the ritual happened and the priest was being kept.

Finally, the underground river where the mage made her getaway.
We’ve had another couple sessions since– wrapup for the first adventure, then the beginning of the next one. I’ll post some more stuff as we go.
More Pathblasters
Hm! I started DMing a pathfinder game again! Not sure exactly how long we’ll go with this one. We just finished up the second session, which was pretty much the close of the first “adventure”. … And now I’m putting the art up here!
The party was tasked with hunting down a bandit leader, Gideon Gripps, leader of the Sticky Fingers. The bandits also seemed to have kidnapped the town priest! Our heroes followed their trail up to the tomb of the Braquen family, where they encountered a number of Shady Figures (yes, they were the bandits)

After killing half of them and scaring the other two away, the party found Gideon himself (and killed him), along with a mage of some sort that was trying to speak with one of the deceased. Further in, they found the priest, guarded by a kobold:

While rescuing the priest, the mage finished her spell… but botched it badly enough that a malevolent ectoplasm rose up and attacked her! And then, attacked the party.
I drew this for the second session specifically, and was trying out making separate images for the images I actually put on the board vs the monster’s profile, since the thin lineart doesn’t work great in roll20:

The party handily dispatched the ectoplasm with holy water prepared by the priest. The mage escaped, but the priest was rescued and their bounty was defeated, so net win!
I’ll probably make a second post that includes the maps of the tomb, since I like how those turned out.
Splattle Sibsters

Happy splatfest! I played a bunch of Splatoon 2 today while also watching a stream of Battle Brothers. So here’s a mashup of those. Please enjoy tactical squid com-splat.
I’ve been enjoying Splatoon a whole lot. The core loop of ‘battle -> get cash -> buy clothes -> repeat’ is very enticing! I love a good dress-up game. I’ve only just started to dip my toes into Salmon Run, as my interest in the Turf War starts to wane (splatfests aside). I had very little interest in ranked until recently– I got really into ARMS’s ranked mode for a couple weeks, which has rekindled my interest in it for Splatoon.
Battle Brothers’ tactical-minis fighting seems pretty neat! Unfortunate that the writing seems to be on that low-fantasy “it’s not realistic if women have agency” bullshit. All in all I’m happy to watch streams of it rather than play it myself.
As an aside– I think a splatoon tactics game could be really cool, although I don’t know that battle brothers’ approach is *quite* the right fit. Battle brothers is really focused on formations (as far as I’ve seen) while Splatoon has a big focus on using your colored turf to increase your mobility (swimmin’ as a squid, super jumps)
Some space ladies for: you
